Summertime

Wow!  I can't believe I have let so much time pass by without blogging.  We have been really busy enjoying our summer break, so there is lots to write about.  Where do I begin...
Claire and Christian came to Texas for a nice long visit from the 7th -22nd.  Lena and I spent a few days in Beaumont while Cory was working.  We had a surprise visit from my aunt and uncle Jim and Betty with their grandson Webb.  We hadn't met him yet, and it was extra special having all of grandma's great-grandchildren together.  Then the plan was for everyone to come here to keep me company while Cory went to Austin for an Administrators Conference.  But a few days before they were supposed to come, Claire got sick.  So Dad stayed in Beaumont to take care of her, and Mimi, Beth, and Christian came to keep Lena and me company for a few days.  We had a good time but definitely had our hands full :)
One special thing we did was we took Lena and Christian to meet Mamaw, my Aunt Charmianne and cousin Luke in College Station.  It was Lena's first time to meet her other great-grandmother (Mamaw) and her first time in Aggieland.  We had a fun time visiting with them, and couldn't leave without buying a few things at the book store.  Luckily Claire started feeling better after a day or two, so she and Dad were able to come stay a night before Mom, Dad, Cory, Lena, and I headed to Austin for a wedding.  Lena was really good on the way to and from Austin.  I think she enjoyed having Mimi and me in the back as company.  I was worried we might spoil her!  We had a really fun time at the wedding too.  Lena was so cute and sweet as always, and it was fun to see our friends and catch up.
Claire and Christian headed back to Wisconsin on the 22nd.  It was so sweet seeing how sweet Lena and Christian are as cousins.  She smiled at him so much and really got used to hearing his voice around the house!  I can't wait to see them together again at Christmas, and we'll look forward to seeing Uncle Jacob too!

That Sunday was Father's Day.  We enjoyed getting to spend the day with my family, and then Honey and Pappy came by later that afternoon to visit too.  It was an extra special day though, because it was Cory's first Father's Day.  He is such an awesome Daddy to Lena, and I know he was happy and proud.  The next day (June 20) was Cory's first day of summer vacation.  He doesn't have to go back to work until July 25th, and we are really having a lot of fun as a family.  We do a lot during the day to keep Lena busy, whether it's hanging out at home, running errands, going for walks, and we've just started taking her to the pool.
We are looking forward to maybe making another trip to Beaumont and El Campo, and then in a few weeks we'll be heading to Panama City Beach, Florida with Cory's family.  Cory and I decided it would be easier to fly with Lena, so we're excited about that adventure.  The Collins have been there many times for family vacations, and I've even gotten to go twice with them.  We know this will be a totally different trip, and we can't wait to experience PCB with a baby!
First time swimming!
